LIAISON® Biotrin Parvovirus B19 Diagnostic Solution
Parvovirus B19, also known as Fifth disease, can pose a serious risk during pregnancy, with potential severe consequences for the unborn fetus.(1)
Testing during pregnancy can help support timely clinical management and reduce the risk of complications. The LIAISON® Biotrin Parvovirus B19 IgG and IgM assay panel represents the first fully automated solution for Human Parvovirus B19 serology, supporting clinicians in the differential diagnosis of infection with reliable, streamlined, and efficient testing.(2)

LIAISON® Biotrin Parvovirus B19 IgG Plus
LIAISON® Biotrin Parvovirus B19 IgG Plus, is a chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) for the qualitative detection of IgG antibodies to B19 virus (B19V, previously known as human parvovirus B19) in human serum and plasma samples.
LIAISON® Biotrin Parvovirus B19 IgM Plus
LIAISON® Biotrin Parvovirus B19 IgM Plus is a chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) for the is intended for the qualitative detection of IgM antibodies to human parvovirus B19 in human serum and plasma samples.
Background
Parvovirus B19 is an erythrovirus that has been associated with a growing number of clinical presentations, the two most important being Fifth Disease in children and fetal complications during pregnancy.(3) Observed in outbreaks, Parvovirus B19 is highly contagious and is associated with fever, muscle pains, arthralgia and a characteristic facial rash. In pregnancy, infection of the fetus during the first 28 weeks of term can lead to cardiac failure, spontaneous abortion, or fetal hydrops.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) does not recommend routine testing for the general public or asymptomatic patients but advises healthcare providers to consider targeted parvovirus testing for high-risk groups such as: pregnant women that have been exposed, immunocompromised individuals and individuals with chronic hemolytic blood disorders.(4)
