LIAISON® Calprotectin
The LIAISON® Calprotectin assay can be used as an aid in the diagnosis of IBD, specifically Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and as an aid in differentiation of IBD from IBS.

Calprotectin is secreted by neutrophils, which infiltrate the intestinal mucosa as part of the inflammatory response. Consequently, organic diseases of the bowel result in elevated levels of fecal calprotectin. The concentration of calprotectin in stool reflects the number of neutrophils present and provides an indicator of the severity of intestinal inflammation. The non-invasive measurement of fecal calprotectin is a useful tool as an aid in differentiating IBD from IBS.
